Bannon Calling

This is the start of a new newspaper comic strip about an Alien called Bannon who accidentally lands on Earth.

An attempt at a three panel comic strip for a gardening demographic.  Episodes 2 and beyond are yet (if ever) to materialise.

For those of you who relish gardening based illustrations and cartoons, I had a job with Kitchen Garden Magazine for a few years, drawing the occasional editorial image.  It was great fun as they all had a horticultural bias, and provided not only one of my favourite drawings I've had published, but also a steady stream of cover-mounted packets of seeds for saving and planting at some point*.

*Note - when all the seeds were planted, the slugs and snails ate them all.  Grr.

A few more!

Hilarity encore!  Some more Dreaming Spires strips!  I didn't realise I'd done quite so many. Presumably I was unemployed or something at the time?  I don't remember.  Relive the rest of the cutting edge humour in my original post, keep the kettle of jocularity warm with this additional strip, (and whilst we're running on a theme of afternoon teas), why not butter the scone of jest, or indeed, fold the napkin of levity with an entirely different strip altogether.

High up in the Oxford Skyline....

More Dreaming Spires for all you Oxford fans out there, on this page of my website, and a detailed exploration of their cultural role in society* on this page.

*hugely embellished claim.

Twit twoo!  The Dreaming Spires somehow acquire a pair of binoculars.

Read some more Dreaming Spires on this post, and find out how they came into being with this full and informative historical biography.

I was living in Oxford, making video games, wondering what to do with myself, trying to think up plans and ideas for 'the next big thing'.  Instead I came up with the hilarious* comic strip "Dreaming Spires".

Set on the Oxford sky line, a collection of belligerent spires pass the time of day with each other, make jokes at each others expense, heckle and jostle around, and check out the architectural curves of the neighbouring buildings.  It's sit-com genius.

For those of you wanting MORE! there's another Dreaming Spires cartoon strip here, and yet another, resting nonchalantly just here, waiting for you to read it.

*tenuous interpretation.
