Here's the first of a series of comic strip pages from 2006/2007 based on Polly, the lazy good-for-nothing cat who kept me company during the day, dribbled endlessly into my collar, and clawed by back with her razor-sharp claws, tearing it and scarring it for life.

The latest couple of Inspector Varga comic strips I draw every so often for an Italian Puzzle Magazine. I guess they're loosing a little in translation, notably because the words aren't in place yet, but still, the idea is that whilst looking through the page you work out how Inspector Varga finds out who killed the the hapless person at the beginning.  It's gripping stuff!

It's with great pride that I announce the forthcoming comic that I've created with my literary partner in crime, the wonderful and excellent Lucy Stone (here's her website).  

She done the writes, I done the pics.  

Here's the promotional flyer I've created for it.  It'll be out in about 7 weeks time, so I'd best get my arse in gear and finish it off....

It's going to be viewable on the acesweekly website, which is viewable here and is jam packed full of wonderful comic strips by a veritable feast of comic creating legends.  I'm VERY pleased to be a part of it, and hope you enjoy what we've all done.

When designing comic strip pages, there's a whole load of different things that you need to include.  It's a bit like being a film director in as much as you've got the visual elements, the dialogue, the pacing, the sound effects, the lighting, the overall look of the page and the comic as a whole.  It's all quite a challenge.  Here's some thumbnail layout's for a comic that I'm working on at the moment.

I have a regular client in the form of a puzzle magazine in Italy, who commission me to illustrate a regular comic strip for them.  Detailing the adventures of one 'Inspector Varga', a homicide detective, the reader has to ascertain how the accused was implicated in the murder.  It's terribly exciting, and naturally I wouldn't dream of giving any clues away, so here's the un-speechbubbled versions for you to ponder over.  If you can work it out without the words then you're either in the wrong career, or already a detective.  Happy guess-working.
